Solve a Bttray Error with Simple Steps

If you receive a Bttray Error, it likely comes with this message: “unable to start the Bluetooth stack service.” Whether you use BlueTooth technology or not, this error message means you have a BlueTooth control program on your computer and it is malfunctioning. There are steps you can take to fix the Bttray Error or remove the BlueTooth program to prevent the error message from continually appearing.

What Causes the Bttray Error?

The Bttray Error can be a result of a few different things, including a malfunctioning BlueTooth driver, failure to update the driver, or a Windows driver that installs and overrides the existing manufacturer’s driver. The Bttray error message typically pops up soon after rebooting or starting the computer, and can sometimes be noticed immediately following installation of a new service pack.

How to Fix the Bttray Error

In order to properly solve the Bttray Error, it is helpful to determine if you need the BlueTooth driver on your system. Do you use BlueTooth technology? If not, you can use Solution 1 to disable the driver. However, if you want to keep the BlueTooth technology and instead just want to solve the error, you can follow manual Solutions 2 or 3 to remove the error message.

1. Select the Start button.

4. Click “OK.”
5. In the box that appears, select the Start Up tab.
6. Locate “Bttray” and uncheck the box.
7. Click “OK.”

Note: Your BlueTooth technology will continue to work.

Solution 3: Repair Bttray Error by Deleting Key in Registry

1. Select the Start button.
2. Choose “Run.”

4. The registry editor is now open.
5. Identify and expand this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\Derived
6. A list will appear on the left. Delete the key named: x86_microsoft.vc80.mfc_1fc8b3b9a1e18e
