JIT Debugger Fix: A Solution that Comes ‘Just-In-Time’

If you are a user of Visual Studio then you may find that you are in the need of a JIT Debugger fix. While the process is one that will require some time, it is one that you will want to undertake to get your debugger working once more.

What is a JIT Debugger Fix?

The JIT in JIT Debugger stands for Just-In-Time and is a program that automatically launches with Visual Studio. When there is an error outside the program the debugger will automatically launch (pop up) and give you the option of checking the error out or letting a fatal error occur. So, when you require a JIT Debugger fix you require a fix for a fixing application.

What Causes the Need for a JIT Debugger Fix?

You may require a JIT Debugger fix if you recently installed another program that also has a debugging application. The competing programs may be overlapping in some files and/or extensions causing you to see an error that might read as though you don’t have your JIT Debugger installed. Another possible cause may be a virus that your computer has contracted.

How to Conduct a JIT Debugger Fix

When attempting a JIT Debugger fix you can go at it a couple of different ways. The solution that works for you will depend on what is actually causing your JIT Debugger problem. However, you can simply start with the basic solution and move on to the more advanced one if you are still experiencing problems.

Solution 1: Complete a Virus Scan

Steps:

  1. Locate the anti-virus icon on your desktop.
  2. Double click the anti-virus icon to open the program.
  3. Find scanning options and choose the ‘Full System Scan’ option.
  4. Run a complete full system scan.
  5. If any viruses are found, delete them immediately.
  6. Restart your computer to allow changes to take effect.
  7. Check for recurrences of error.

Solution 2: Ensure JIT Debugger is Default Debugger

Steps:

  1. Click the start button on your computer.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Options.
  4. From the Options Dialog box select your Debugging Folder.
  5. From your Debugging Folder be sure to highlight and select JIT Debugger.
  6. Either clean or select the pertinent program types that are labeled Script, Managed, and/or Native.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Restart your computer.

**It should be noted that you may need to login as an administrator for the registry key to change with this solution. This will depend on your Windows operating system.

This fix should help you complete your JIT Debugger fix. Good luck!
